In the 2017-2018 Volvo Ocean Race, Nicolai Sehested was out to settle unfinished business and complete the hardest sailing race in the world. Not yet 30 years-old, Nicolai carried serious weight on his shoulders as boat captain. He was also responsible for making his team one of the fastest on the water, ensuring the boat go as fast as possible 24/7. Red Bull TV takes behinds the scenes look at 28-year-old Danish yachtsman Nicolai Sehested’s second participation in the Volvo Ocean Race.
In the 2015-16 edition the former match racer cut his teeth as helmsman and boat captain with the ill-fated Team Vestas Wind campaign. Things went better for him in the 2017-18 edition with team AkzoNobel – but the campaign wasn’t without some significant challenges both on and off the water.
